TUTORIAL:
This new GUI has built in chat facility, new map launcher and working correctly with AI difficulty (Very Easy to Insane)
First of all, you will need the latest update to Starcraft 2. If you already have the game installed, try running it using the normal shortcut to “Starcraft II.exe”. If it won’t update, uninstall the game, then delete what’s left of the Starcraft folder (default location should have been C:\Program Files\StarCraft II Beta for 32 bit windows or C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Beta for 64 bit, so delete that folder if it’s still there after uninstall) and then reinstall the beta so that it updates properly.
Assuming you installed to default location, just unrar these files straight into C:\Program Files\StarCraft II Beta (32 bit windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Beta (64 bit windows) and it will create two folders, one called “LazyLauncher2″ and the other called “maps”. If you already un-rared the files, copy the two folders instead to the same location mentioned above.
Take a look inside the “LazyLauncher2″ folder. You should find a file called “LauncherGUI”.
Put a shortcut to that on your desktop.
Double click it.
When the GUI pops up, you will have a few new options than you did with the previous launcher.
To select a map, you have to first browse to your maps folder. This only needs to be done the first time. After that, the maps will appear available in a dropdown menu underneath. Next select the difficulty you want, and then click “Run Map” underneath.
Play and enjoy
The chat facility works as follows:
Instead of choosing maps and running the game, select “Free Chat” at the bottom.
Enter a name for yourself, then click “connect”.
Now you can chat to other people!
Some of you eagle eyed users may notice that there is a “LAN” option greyed out. I guess it’s coming soon.
When I find out how to enable it, I’ll update this again with the LAN stuff.
Enjoy!
